Mommy Wants a Margarita

There is a reason you're supposed finish baby proofing the cabinets in the kitchen and not keep putting it off. Reason being...
Yesterday Brad was in the kitchen preparing bottles for the next school day. I was putting away laundry when I hear "Oh sh@#!" Followed by probably a few others and then "BROOKE, COME HERE NOW PLEASE! HELP!" I come running in and Brad says, "Blake's covered in Triple Sec." Why I ask?? He said, "He thought you wanted a margarita..."
Well now I do! Can I take a rain check for approximately 5 months from now??

My Little Fighter and Baby Checkup

Last week was a bit of a bang up week for Blake...literally. I started off the week receiving a call from Blake's school that he was fine, but was involved in an incident. Another baby attacked Blake. Okay, not really, but another baby while walking in a "walk-about" toy ran over Blake's thumb. It caused the skin to pull away the entire length of his thumb and bled...a lot. I must admit his thumb looked pretty nasty. Then later in the week he fell and hit his head in the same spot he seems to always hit his head and ended up with a black and blue goose egg on his forehead. And then he opened a drawer and sat down, bumping his eye on the corner, ending up with a bit of a shiner. Blake looked like he was a little prize fighter. I'm crossing fingers he heals up nicely and no other incidents take place this week as he's having professional photos taken on Saturday. I guess there's always photoshop...
Blake got a present last week for being so brave with all his injuries...his first soccer ball. It was love at first sight. He could not stop smiling and hugging the ball and would hit it and then chase after it. It was so much fun to see. Here are a few pics. This first one if you look at his right thumb can sort of make out his cut...

And here is Blake hugging his new best friend...

And his eyes are closed due to the flash, but a good shot of his eye injury and you can barely make out the bump on his forehead on his right side of his face...

As I've said before Blake's absolute favorite place in the world (well beside Grandma & Grandpa's) is outside. Anytime the backdoor opens to let Darcy in or out, Blake makes a mad dash to try and make his escape. He's got a cool little playhouse with a slide that he has to have fun with as well. It even has a door on it, which has become one of his new favorite activities. He doesn't discriminate against the type of door. If it can open and shut, he is there opening and shutting. He could do this alllll day long. Here is a pic in his playhouse about to open and shut the door about fifty times...

This morning was an exciting one for me as it was baby checkup day. Until I can feel baby move, I rely on these doctor appointments to have that reassurance all is still okay with baby. It was a quick and fairly uneventful appointment but I got to hear the sweet music to my ears...baby's heartbeat. Heartbeat sounded wonderful and doctor was perfectly happy with how everything is going. Great news. I scheduled the big ultrasound as well...May 22nd. I CAN NOT WAIT!

What's so Funny about that???

Blake was propped up in our bed drinking his bottle this morning and I was snuggling him. Brad came over and gave me a kiss and Blake stopped gulping down his milk and started laughing...so Brad kissed me again...more laughter. We thought it was so funny Blake was getting a chuckle from this. But why on earth did he find Brad kissing me so funny?? Hopefully he doesn't feel that way about kissing when he's older :).
I wish I had some new pictures to post, but sadly I do not. I don't ever think to snap pictures and need to get much better about that, especially since I have that rocking new camera. This weekend has been too much fun spending with Brad and Blake. I did get to witness Blake taking a few steps on his own Thursday evening which warmed my heart more than I can say. His latest bit he's trying to tackle is standing up with out using something to pull himself up with. He's so close and I think once he masters that, he'll be walking. I can't even describe how much fun Blake is right now. I love this age!
Baby Jones update...Not too much to report, I am now just over 14 weeks and while I'm still nauseous, the last few days have been completely tolerable and I'm beginning to sense some light at the end of the tunnel. I'm getting more and more excited about this little baby by the day and am feeling more bonded to him or her with each passing day as well. I go back to the doctor a week from Monday, I believe for just a quick check of the heartbeat, but can't wait to hear it again! The big news everyone, or at least Brad and I, are waiting for will most likely be in 5 weeks. I can't wait to find out boy or girl!

First Steps

Blake took his first steps today and *sniff sniff* I didn't even get to see. If there was ever a dagger to put in my heart with the pain of being a working mom, it was this. I picked up Blake from school half ready to hear about his latest stripping escapades only to hear much bigger news. His teacher asked if Blake was walking on his own at all at home. I said no, but close. She then asked if he did at school if I'd want to know about it. "Yessss, why????" was my reply. That's when she proceeded to tell me Blake had taken 3 steps all on his own today. Yes, by most standards 3 steps is not much, but these are his first steps he has EVER taken on his own. My little baby no more. He's going to be walking in no time and I just hope I'm there to see it.

Striptease

I just received a call from Brad with a story he received from Blake's teachers this morning when he dropped him off at school and its just too funny not to share.
Yesterday they put Blake in his pack-n-play for nap time and he stood up and started stripping. That little monkey started pulling off his clothes! His teachers started laughing at him which prompted Blake to start laughing hysterically with them. The mental picture I get of this just cracks me up! One of the girls went over to him and said, "Blake would you like some dollar bills?" and he replied "NO!". Keep in mind Blake has not started saying real words and has never said this to Brad or I. After hearing this Brad turned to Blake and said, "Blake take the money!!" Ahh, the lessons father teaches son...

The Holidays

Blake's 1st Passover and Easter...what wonderful things did you do to celebrate these holidays you ask?? NOTHING. Yes, you read correctly...nothing. No sweet pictures with the Easter bunny, no quest of the afikomen (to all my non Jewish friends, I can explain that later). I know its somewhat of a crime to let these special firsts of Blake's go by without any acknowledgement, but I promise you that he won't hold it against me when he's older.
Blake went from sinus infection to stomach bug to double ear infections. Mommy went from feeling horrible to feeling a little better to feeling even worse than when she started. And with grandma not feeling up to her Passover hosting duties either, it just wasn't in any of us to do a darn thing. There is always next year. And you know what? I am willing to bet Blake will have a whole lot more fun with the Passover and Easter activities when he's a year older.
My goal for the rest of the week is to just get through it. My dad joked earlier today, "Maybe you haven't said loud enough that you're in the 2nd trimester so the baby can hear you...you shouldn't be getting sick anymore!" Yeah, I agree. You hear that lil guy or girl?? You can stop making mommy sick anytime now!! But once again I was reminded, as I was putting Blake to sleep and was holding that sweet little boy in my arms, the visions of when he was first born and what it will be like to get to go through that again makes these ick days all worth it!

Happy 11 Months

As a friend pointed out to me this morning, I have totally slacked on the postings, so I am sorry. I think once I am over this hump of feeling icky, I'll be back to my posting fool self. The last week has been exhuasting and busy but nothing too exciting has taken place. I had to take Blake to the doctor on Saturday as he's had a lingering cough that ended up turning worse instead of getting better. Turns out he had a sinus infection...glad I took him! He's on an antibiotic and hopeful he's on the upswing. Cough still sounds bad, but the frequency is much less and he's actually able to sleep without waking himself up from a coughing fit. Mommy much happier now too!
Today Mr. Blake is 11 months old. I will try to put the next month on slow motion to soak up the last bit of time before my baby turns one year old! To celebrate Blake's 11 months in the world, I decided to take him outside to enjoy the nice weather once we got home from work/school as outside is his favorite place in the world and used the opportunity to snap a few photos...

The next few are of Blake eating grass and just enjoying the fresh air...

This one is of Blake about to attempt to pull out all my flowers. When his knees aren't covered he crawls like a crab as you can notice in this pic...so funny.

And here Blake is crying after I pulled out the flowers from his mouth and told him he couldn't eat them.
